Don’t Miss the 3rd Annual Dig IN

The third annual Dig IN event is Sunday, August 26 from Noon until 5:00 pm!  This could be the best sampling of wonderful Indiana agriculture you will find! Dig IN spotlights food grown by Indiana farmers and prepared by local chefs doing their best to promote and entice Hoosiers on the bounty at our fingertips daily.

32 local Artisan chefs, a bit of wine or a mug of ale makes for a perfect afternoon event!  Located at White River Parkway and the canal (you can’t miss the tents), will provide samplings of each chefs take on local agriculture and food. Homemade items such as Regina Mahallick’s, owner of R bistro; preparing homemade Ricotta cheese to serve with Peach and White Corn Puree finished with a Twisted Sistaz Popcorn or farms such as Capriole in southern Indiana supporting items for Chef Jeff Ford, from J. Ford’s Black Angus, with his version of Slow Smoked Bison Taco with Indiana Pico and Goat cheese.

There will be music, and wine and beer samplings, Artisans discussions and interaction with farmers and chefs!  This event allows Hoosiers to understand that two percent of the Farmers produce 100% of the food we eat!  Whether they plow several thousand acres or use pots for growing, everyone is can take part in the environment and sustainability!  While you are traveling the Dig IN many exhibits and food tent be sure to stop and talk to the farmers who have produced the beef, pork, chicken, vegetables, herbs and of course dairy in the recipes.

At the Indiana Family of Farmers (IFOF) tent, there will be local farmers, apples, cheese and milk to continue to help support the agricultural message!  Did you know that the milk you will be drinking on Sunday (the day of the event) is going to be from the cow that was milked on Friday?  Yes, milk is that fresh!  Only 2 days from cow to store shelf!

Tis the year also for food trucks!  Yes, food trucks are very local, buying very local and often.  Meet Matt Kornmeyer from Scratch—you simply will not believe his Corn Panna Cotta!  This is a great opportunity to see that these vehicles are producing cutting edge quality products in an area the size of a postage stamp.

The American Dairy Association of Indiana participates in this event annually along with the other IFOF family members to bring you information on the fresh, wholesome and delicious Indiana foods and the wonderful treats the chefs have prepared  for sampling; see you under the tent!
