Let’s Party at Indiana Summer Celebrations

It’s summertime and many communities throughout our great state have fun events planned. You don’t have to travel far from home to find fun things to do.

Indy has, on June 25-26, the Indian Market and Festival.  You can find Native American art, food, music, dancing, etc.

From June 30-July 2 Kokomo is hosting its annual Haynes-Apperson Festival where they celebrate Kokomo’s auto heritage via a parade, car show, sporting events, and much more.

On the 4th of July if you are in Twelve Mile you can help celebrate 48 years of lawn mower racing via the Twelve Mile 500!!   Or if you are in Shoals you can enjoy the Shoal’s Catfish Festival where you can fish and enjoy fresh cooked catfish, and view cooking contests, sporting events, and arts/crafts booths.

Logansport hosts its Taste of Cass County on August 8.  You are invited to spend the eve on the Little Turtle Waterway and enjoy local foods and live music.

Help Greensburg celebrate its Power of the Past from August 18-21.  It’s an annual antique machinery show (tractors, steam engines, etc.).  You can also enjoy a fiddle contest and an auction/flea market.

August 20-21 finds Michigan City celebrating its 30th Lakefront Art Festival.  It’s an arts/crafts fair in Washington Park.

Russiaville has its Winding Creek Bluegrass Festival from August 26-28. This event showcases bands such as Karl Shiflett & Big Country Show, Goldwing Express and Branded Bluegrass.

If you plan on being in Vevay from August 26-28, check out the Swiss Wine Festival where you can enjoy polka and country music, a grape stomp competition, canoe racing, local wines and much more!!

Lastly, September 3 finds the Sunman Wine & Fireworks Festival.  Enjoy this family fun event including a parade, a kid’s talent show, an “Idol” contest and FIREWORKS!!!
